QatarEnergy Awards Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Contract for Northwest Field Project

QatarEnergy has awarded a contract for engineering, procurement, and construction for the Northwest Field gas production project, a significant step in expanding the world's largest LNG production capacity.

QatarEnergy announced today the awarding of an engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the gas production lines in the Northwest Field project, a crucial part of its initiative to enhance LNG expansion. This project is the final piece in a series of expansions that will increase Qatar's LNG production capability to 142 million tons per year, solidifying its position as the world's largest exporter of this strategic commodity.

The scope of the contract includes the construction of two massive LNG production trains with a total capacity of 16 million tons annually, along with facilities for gas processing and the extraction of natural gas liquids and helium. The project is expected to yield approximately 175,000 barrels of oil equivalent daily from condensates, ethane, and LPG, thus adding value to the industries linked to gas production. With the first LNG shipments from the project anticipated by the end of 2031, the project is positioned to significantly impact global LNG markets.

An international consortium comprising Technip Energies and Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) has been contracted to execute the project, reflecting Qatar's commitment to fostering international partnerships. This development not only signifies a pivotal moment for Qatar's energy sector but also demonstrates the strategic importance of natural gas in the global energy transition and economic landscape.
