In a recent court appearance, the 48-year-old cousin of Fanouris Kargakis, who is implicated in a deadly shooting incident in Borizia, denied all charges during his testimony. The questioning, which lasted two hours, was conducted by a magistrate in Heraklion as part of the ongoing investigation into the violent events that transpired. This deadly feud resulted in the tragic loss of 39-year-old Fanouris Kargakis and 57-year-old Evangelia Frangiadaki due to a shootout.

The cousin, who has been identified as the second individual in a pertinent video capturing the shooting, claimed during his testimony that he was unarmed and attempted to prevent the violent conflict rather than participate in it. When asked about the whereabouts of the firearms involved, he stated he had no knowledge of their location. Present at the court were his lawyer, Apostolos Lytras, and family members supporting him during this distressing time.

Nine individuals have been arrested in connection to the incident, suggesting a wider network of familial ties involved in this case. Of those arrested, seven have currently been remanded in custody, which highlights the significant legal implications of this feud and the authorities' commitment to addressing the violence in the region.
