IndiGo flight delayed for over 4 hours at the airport, 200 passengers stuck on the runway

An IndiGo international flight at Chennai Airport was delayed by over four hours, leaving 200 passengers waiting on the runway.

At Chennai Airport, passengers aboard IndiGo's international flight 6E 1025 faced an extensive delay exceeding four hours, as the flight, originally scheduled for departure at 7:20 AM, took off at 11:39 AM, marking a delay of 4 hours and 19 minutes. Around 200 passengers remained on board, visibly distressed, as footage circulating on social media depicted their frustration.

The primary reason for the delay was reportedly an issue with the aircraft's air conditioning system, which struggled to operate effectively in Chennai's temperature conditions. Engineers were summoned to rectify the problem prior to takeoff, and after some time, the air conditioning issue was addressed. However, following the resolution, a further complication arose as the pilots revealed that if the same crew continued the flight from Chennai to Singapore, it would violate Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations.

IndiGo was then forced to arrange a new crew, which involved initiating a visa process that took additional time, contributing to the already significant delay. This incident highlights not only the potential challenges airlines face with technical issues but also the complex regulatory requirements surrounding crew duty times.
