Changes to the train schedule towards Liepaja
The train schedule towards Liepaja will change due to track repairs starting Saturday, February 28.
Starting Saturday, February 28, the train schedule for routes heading to Liepaja will be altered due to necessary repair work on the rail tracks, as announced by AS 'Pasažieru vilciens' (PV). The company indicated that speed limits have been imposed on the affected sections of the track due to these repairs. As part of the changes, three trains will leave earlier than usual, and all trains arriving in Liepaja will be delayed by approximately two to five minutes compared to the standard schedule.
Specifically, on Sundays, the train operating on the Riga-Liepaja route will depart five minutes earlier than scheduled, beginning its journey from Riga Central Station at 13:50. Moreover, trains traveling from Liepaja to Riga will also see slight schedule adjustments, with one train departing three minutes earlier at 4:57 AM daily, and the Sunday evening train leaving five minutes earlier at 17:54. The train schedule, which reflects these changes, is readily available on the 'Vivi' website and mobile application, offering passengers the latest updates regarding their travel plans.
Pasažieru vilciens was established in 2001 to separate domestic passenger transport from the operations of 'Latvijas dzelzceļa'. Initially, it was fully owned by 'Latvijas dzelzceļa', but in 2008 the company began operating independently. These recent schedule adjustments underscore the ongoing efforts to maintain and improve railway infrastructure in Latvia, ensuring passenger safety and service continuity despite the temporary inconveniences caused by repairs.
