Soul: the five days dedicated to spirituality
The 'Soul, the Festival of Spirituality' will take place from March 18 to 22, featuring over 70 free events led by more than 100 scholars, aimed at exploring the concept of 'Mystery' against the backdrop of notable cultural sites in Milan.
The 'Soul, the Festival of Spirituality' is set to occur from March 18 to 22 in Milan, designed to foster a pause for reflection and exploration of the 'Mystery' that surrounds human existence. With over 70 events taking place in historically significant venues including La Scala and the church of San Satiro, the festival aims to engage participants with various disciplines such as literature, poetry, philosophy, science, and psychoanalysis. This year's edition continues the themes of previous years, which focused on 'Wonder' and 'Trust', to encourage deeper connections with the unseen aspects of reality.
The festival is organized by the Archdiocese of Milan and the Catholic University, receiving support from the local municipality. Aurelio Mottola, founder of the festival, emphasized the current societal challenges that inhibit spiritual awareness, attributing it to the overpowering influence of capitalist culture and digital habits that numb spiritual senses. The opening event titled 'Without a Doubt' on the first day of the festival sets the tone for the following discussions and explorations throughout the week.
As the festival invites attendance from a broad audience with free entry, it seeks to not only embrace traditional spiritual practices but also to address contemporary issues affecting spiritual cognition. This initiative reinforces the importance of spirituality in a modern context, presenting a unique opportunity for individuals to engage with the complexities of existence through diverse lenses and community participation in an enriching environment.
