Iberdrola's profits soar 12%, reaching 6.285 billion in 2025
Iberdrola reported a 12% increase in profits for the year 2025, reaching 6.285 billion euros, attributed to significant investments in its networks and a robust dividend announcement.
Iberdrola, Spain's leading energy company, announced a 12% increase in its net profit for the year 2025, totaling 6.285 billion euros, compared to the previous year's figures. The company made substantial investments of 14.56 billion euros, with two-thirds of this amount allocated towards enhancing its networks, highlighting its commitment to infrastructure development. In addition to its profit figures, Iberdrola also declared a dividend of 0.68 euros per share, demonstrating its intention to return value to shareholders while maintaining robust financial health.
The reported results also included significant aspects such as a gross operating profit (EBITDA) of 16.592 billion euros, which reflected a slight decrease of 1.5% relative to the previous year. Included in these results were extraordinary factors such as a capital gain from the sale of smart meters in the UK amounting to 379 million euros and the occurrence of past costs in the United States that contributed an additional 389 million euros. However, the company faced various adjustments, including negative impacts totaling 465 million euros from its Renewable Generation and Clients segment, as well as further costs related to capital allowances in the UK.
Despite these challenges and adjustments in different segments, the adjusted net profit, excluding exceptional items, was reported at 6.23 billion euros. This performance underscores Iberdrola's resilience and strategic investments in renewables and grid development, positioning it favorably within the energy sector as it continues to grow and adapt to industry changes.
