The expansion of Central Beach in Balneário Piçarras, Brazil, is halfway complete, with significant investments made and beach safety being a priority.
The beach expansion project at Central Beach in Balneário Piçarras, located in Santa Catarina's northern coastline, has reached the halfway mark. The initiative involves the widening of the beach along a segment of 6.7 km and aims to enhance the recreational area while ensuring environmental standards, as evidenced by the beach's 100% Blue Flag status. This particular project marks the fourth expansion effort for this beach, emphasizing the municipality's commitment to maintaining its environmental recognition.
Started on January 23rd, the project has a completion timeline of 60 days and has seen investments exceeding 40 million Brazilian Reais, sourced from the Beach Maintenance Fund (Fumpra) and the municipality's own budget. As of now, with 50% of the work completed, a section of the beach has been opened to the public, allowing beachgoers to enjoy the expanded space while enjoying the scenic views.
The approval for public access, particularly for the second segment of the beach expansion, underlines the municipality's aim to boost tourism and local enjoyment while ensuring safety. This effort not only elevates the beach's appeal but also aligns with the community's ongoing efforts to provide quality recreational areas while protecting the coastal environment, further supporting the municipality’s push for sustainable tourism practices.
