The 22-year-old Lajal, currently ranked ATP 160, started strong, winning the first three games without much trouble. Although Berrettini managed to come within two or three games after that, Lajal maintained control and finished the first set with a score of 6-3.

Moving into the second set, Lajal continued to dominate, breaking Berrettini's serve early to take a 2-1 lead before winning four consecutive games, ultimately securing the set 6-1 and ensuring his advancement to the next round. Throughout the match, Lajal showcased his serving prowess, hitting five aces and making no double faults during the one-hour and seven-minute contest, compared to Berrettini's seven aces and four double faults.

Lajal's performance was particularly notable for his efficiency, winning 95% of points on his first serve and 63% on his second, while Berrettini only managed to win 61% of points on his first serve and a mere 21% on his second. With nine break point opportunities, Lajal converted four, while Berrettini failed to capitalize on any of his chances.
