"Jazz Does Not Stand Behind the Industry's Doors!" Introducing the Jazz Musicians Nominated for the Large Music Award
Ahead of the 2025 Large Music Awards ceremony, jazz musicians nominated for the category of outstanding achievement in jazz are being highlighted.
As Latvia anticipates the 2025 Large Music Awards ceremony, set for March 6 at the Cēsis Concert Hall, Latvia Radio 3 "Klasika" is featuring candidates nominated for the prestigious event. This year, a separate category for jazz music will once again honor outstanding talent, marking a significant recognition in the Latvian cultural and music scene. Among the nominees are prominent jazz artists including vibraphonist and keyboardist Miķelis Dzenuška, percussionist Kaspars Kurdeko, and saxophonist Toms Rudzinskis.
Kaspars Kurdeko expressed his joy at the inclusion of a dedicated jazz category for the second year in a row, emphasizing its importance in placing jazz at the forefront of Latvia's cultural landscape. He remarked that this recognition symbolizes jazz sitting at the table of the cultural and music industry rather than being sidelined. Anete Ašmane-Vilsone, a representative of the awards' jury, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the significance of having three nominees specifically for their outstanding performances in jazz this year.
The establishment of a jazz category within the Large Music Awards indicates a growing appreciation for this genre within Latvia's music industry, providing a platform for artists to gain recognition and acknowledgment. The recognition fosters hope for continued support and visibility for jazz, not only in the awards but also within the broader cultural context of Latvia, as the music community looks forward to highlighting the contributions and talents of its jazz musicians in the years to come.
