Commander of U.S. Forces in Korea Fully Denies 'Apology' Regarding U.S.-China Fighter Jet Confrontation in Korea
The U.S. Forces Korea issued a statement denying reports that their commander apologized to South Korean authorities regarding a recent fighter jet confrontation with China in the Yellow Sea.
U.S. Forces Korea has publicly refuted claims that its commander, Xavier Brunson, issued an apology to South Korean military authorities for an incident involving U.S. F-16 fighter jets confronting Chinese aircraft in the Yellow Sea. The U.S. military clarified that Brunson had communicated with South Korea's Defense Minister, An Gyu-baek, emphasizing that the military exercises had been pre-notified to South Korean authorities. The statement also expressed regret that the South Korean Minister of National Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff were not informed in a timely manner about the training plans due to issues in the reporting system within South Korea's military.
