Jeon Han-gil: 'Oh Se-hoon, are you a leftist? Please let the Yoon Again concert be held'

Ultra-right former Korean history instructor Jeon Han-gil publicly urged Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon to allow the 'Yoon Again' concert to take place, despite it being at risk of cancellation.

Jeon Han-gil, a former Korean history instructor known for his ultra-right views, publicly requested Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon to facilitate the holding of the controversial 'Yoon Again' concert, which had been facing cancellation. In a YouTube live broadcast on the 24th, Jeon challenged Oh's conservative credentials, implying that as a right-wing mayor, he should support the concert that local leftist pressures have threatened to cancel. His demand was straightforward and confrontational, including an invitation for Oh to define whether he adheres to conservative values.

This concert, scheduled for March 1, was planned for Goyang's KINTEX center, but Jeon's failure to disclose its connection to the Yoon Again movement during the venue application led to its cancellation. Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon intervened, highlighting the political implications of allowing such an event in a state-funded facility. KINTEX management cited misleading information and a contradiction to public morals as reasons for revoking the venue reservation, which Jeon deemed as political repression rather than a legitimate managerial action.

Jeon's response to the cancellation was vociferous; he engaged in a direct and confrontational style with the mayor, compelling him to respond to accusations of being either a rightist or leftist. Frustrated by the decisions made by local government officials associated with the Democratic Party, Jeon insisted that the Republican-affiliated Oh must step in to support his cause. With less than a week until the concert, uncertainties remain regarding its execution, particularly given judicial criticism of the event's ideological direction and its compatibility with national constitutional ethics.
