A businessman denied that his helicopter landed at the mansion in Pilar attributed to Pablo Toviggino
Luis Alberto Gold denies any connection to AFA officials and asserts his helicopter did not land at a mansion in Pilar under investigation.
Luis Alberto Gold, the owner of a Bell 407GX helicopter, has denied any link to Claudio 'Chiqui' Tapia and Pablo Ariel Toviggino, officials of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), following allegations that his helicopter landed at a mansion in Pilar under judicial investigation. In a statement to Clarin, Gold claimed that his helicopter is used solely by him and his family, and that there has been no illegal activity associated with its use or any connection to AFA authorities.
Gold clarified that the only occasion his helicopter was used in conjunction with the AFA was in 2017 when he arranged a courtesy flight for FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Tapia from Ezeiza Airport, stating that he was not personally involved in that flight. The mansion in question has attracted scrutiny due to claims of it being connected to Toviggino through proxy owners, heightening the need for clarity regarding Gold’s alleged association.
The ongoing investigation by Argentine authorities underscores the complexities of the relationships within the AFA and the potential misuse of public resources in the realm of football administration. Gold's public denial may serve to absolve him of any wrongdoing, but it also raises questions about the accountability and transparency of those in positions of power in Argentine football, as well as the scrutiny of luxury properties associated with football officials.
