The casting of renowned singers Lucy Alves and Wanessa Camargo, along with actor Bruno Fagundes, has been announced for the 2026 performance of the Passion of Christ in João Pessoa, Brazil. This event is set to take place from April 2 to April 4 at the Centro Cultural São Francisco, attracting thousands of spectators to witness this traditional reenactment of the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In this year’s performance, Wanessa Camargo will portray an angel, while Bruno Fagundes takes on the role of Jesus, and Lucy Alves will play Mary. This annual spectacle, which has become a beloved tradition in the region, is now entering its fourth consecutive year, signifying its growing popularity and cultural importance in the local community.

As stated by Marcus Alves, the executive director of Funjope, the confirmation of the cast marks the transition to the final stages of preparation, focusing on logistics such as scenery construction, lighting, and other crucial elements necessary for the production’s success.
