Woman convicted of killing two boyfriends is arrested after giving birth in a hospital in MT
A 34-year-old woman was arrested shortly after giving birth in a hospital in Várzea Grande, Brazil, for the murders of two boyfriends between 2019 and 2024.
A woman named Silvana Ferreira da Silva, aged 34, was arrested immediately after giving birth at the Pronto-Socorro in Várzea Grande, part of the metropolitan region of Cuiabá, Brazil, on Tuesday, the 24th. She had been convicted for the murders of two boyfriends, Dirceu de Lima Raimundo and Crizuandhel Fialho Egueis Arruda, which took place from 2019 to 2024. The police reported that she had been on the run since her conviction, and efforts were being made by the news outlet G1 to reach her legal defense.
The timeline of events reveals that Silvana's relationship with Crizuandhel began in August 2019, which turned out to be tumultuous. At the same time, she was involved with Dirceu, her then-current boyfriend. Shortly after the start of her relationship with Crizuandhel, Dirceu disappeared in November 2019. His body was subsequently discovered buried in a shallow grave, leading to an investigation into Silvana.
Both murders resulted in a combined sentence of 41 years of imprisonment in a closed regime, highlighting the severity of her crimes. The ongoing judicial process and public interest in the case underscore the complexities of domestic violence and criminal behavior in intimate relationships in Brazil, sparking discussions about legal penalties and societal responses to such acts of violence.
