Civil Defense issues alert for heavy rains in Noroeste Fluminense

Civil Defense in Noroeste Fluminense has issued a warning for intense rainfall over the next 48 hours, affecting several municipalities due to potential flooding and high winds.

The Civil Defense authorities in Noroeste Fluminense have issued an alert regarding predicted heavy rains expected over the next two days, specifically targeting municipalities such as Itaperuna, Bom Jesus do Itabapoana, Italva, Porciúncula, and Natividade. The warning emphasizes the high risk of severe thunderstorms, strong wind gusts, and potential flooding in the affected areas. Residents are advised to stay vigilant as even short periods of rain have previously resulted in significant flooding, particularly noted recently in Bom Jesus do Itabapoana, where brief downpours caused extensive street flooding without severe incidents reported.

Previously, intense storms had already affected several cities in the region, leading to various incidents like flooded streets, damaged roofs, and fallen trees. During the recent extreme weather, state highways RJ-220 and RJ-230 faced closures due to the severe conditions. Local residents have been taking precautions, and despite the challenges, no serious emergencies have been reported so far.

In Cambuci, increased rainfall in the mountainous areas has heightened the flow of the municipal park's waterfall, becoming a point of interest for locals. Although the rainfall raises concerns about flooding and infrastructure damage, the authorities are monitoring the situation closely and remain on alert for any changes that could arise from the weather conditions in the days ahead.
