Fugitive brothers accused of killing pregnant woman in PR surrender to police and say they intended to attack her husband for 'revenge'
Two brothers accused of murdering a pregnant woman in Ponta Grossa, Brazil, surrendered to the police, stating their intention was revenge against her husband.
Samuel da Silva Gravonski and Mario Gravonski Junior, brothers considered fugitives since early February, surrendered to the Civil Police in Ponta Grossa, ParanΓ‘, on the afternoon of February 23. They were identified as the main suspects in the murder of Susana Ferreira Correia, a 40-year-old pregnant woman who was shot inside her home. The brothers reportedly invaded her residence, tied her up, and, following a struggle when her husband arrived home, one of the suspects fired a shot, tragically hitting Susana.
Following the incident, the Gravonski brothers fled the scene. Security cameras captured them leaving the victim's home, and police later discovered the vehicle used in the crime abandoned nearby. Investigations revealed that the invasion was motivated by a vendetta against Susana's husband rather than a robbery, highlighting the personal nature of this crime and the extreme violence involved in their actions.
The case has shaken the local community, raising concerns over domestic violence and the safety of women in vulnerable situations. As law enforcement continues to pursue leads and gather evidence, the tragedy underscores ongoing issues related to the protection of pregnant women and the need for effective intervention measures in cases of family violence.
