On the four-year anniversary of Russia's invasion, around 1,000 people gathered in Frankfurt to show solidarity with Ukraine and remember the ongoing conflict.
On February 24th, approximately 1,000 individuals congregated at Römerberg in Frankfurt to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Participants, many of whom were Ukrainians, expressed their solidarity through gestures such as placing their hands over their hearts while singing their national anthem. Speakers at the event emphasized that the aggression from Russia began with the annexation of Crimea in 2014, reminding attendees that the current conflict has been prolonged and multifaceted. This sentiment of remembrance also served as a call to action for ongoing support and solidarity against Russian aggression.
Among the attendees was Hesse's Interior Minister, Roman Poseck (CDU), who had earlier in the day overseen the departure of humanitarian aid convoys from Hesse to Ukraine. Poseck highlighted that since the war began, his state has organized 140 aid transports, utilizing 176 trucks, with a total value exceeding 14 million euros. He underscored the commitment of Hesse and the German government to continue supporting Ukraine during this prolonged conflict.
