Forsa Survey: Daily Newspapers the Most Important Mass Media for Local Elections
A recent Forsa survey reveals that daily newspapers in Frankfurt are the primary source of information for residents regarding local political events.
A recent survey conducted by Forsa for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has disclosed that daily newspapers remain the most significant source of information among mass media for local elections in Frankfurt. The survey highlights that 71% of respondents gather news through personal conversations, but among mass media, online and printed editions of Frankfurt's daily newspapers eclipse other formats. Specifically, 62% of the participants reported using the newspapers' websites, while 26% referred to the printed versions.
In the rankings of information sources, Frankfurt's daily newspapers hold a solid lead over other unidentified websites, which attracted 57% of participants. Following closely are radio, social media, and television, which garnered 49%, 46%, and 42% respectively. The data suggests a clear preference for traditional print and reputable online news sources, signaling the enduring relevance of established journalism amid the rapid evolution of digital media.
Moreover, the survey indicates a notable divergence in news consumption patterns among supporters of the Alternative fΓΌr Deutschland (AfD) party, emphasizing a shift toward alternative media channels. This variance could signal a deeper trend regarding how different political demographics perceive and consume news, warranting further investigation into the implications for local journalism and democratic engagement during election cycles.
