Universal civil service, new call for volunteers opened

The Italian Department for Youth Policies has launched a new annual call for volunteers for the Universal Civil Service, offering nearly 66,000 places, with applications open until April 8, 2026.

The Italian Department for Youth Policies and the Universal Civil Service have recently announced the opening of a new annual application call, allowing for the recruitment of volunteers. This call is set to close on April 8, 2026, and offers a total of 65,964 positions, with approximately 1,500 available abroad in European and non-EU countries. The program is aimed at young individuals aged 18 to 29, whether Italian or foreign residents in Italy, who can apply online for these positions.

Minister for Sports and Youth, Andrea Abodi, highlighted the importance of this initiative as it marks the 25th anniversary of the voluntary civil service's evolution in Italy, with the significant backing of law no. 64 of March 6, 2021. He emphasized that this call for volunteers is exceptional in scale and reflects the government's commitment to promoting civic engagement among the youth. The opportunity for young people to participate in civil service not only fosters personal growth but also enhances social responsibility and cultural awareness.

This current recruitment cycle is described as one of the largest ever offered by the program, underscoring a purposeful effort by the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Meloni to secure stable funding for civil initiatives. The initiative not only benefits the volunteers but also aims to strengthen community ties and cultivate a culture of active citizenship, making it a significant step towards empowering youth in Italy.
