Ukrainian gas production facility halts operations after Russian drone attack on Kharkiv Oblast

A Ukrainian gas production facility operated by Naftogaz Group has suspended operations due to a Russian drone attack in Kharkiv Oblast.

On February 24, Ukrainian gas production facilities came under sustained attack from Russian drones, leading to a complete halt of operations at a facility owned by Naftogaz Group, the state oil and gas company of Ukraine. The CEO of Naftogaz, Serhii Koretskyi, confirmed on Facebook that the drone strikes were ongoing and that confirmed damage had occurred, prompting immediate operational suspensions.

The attacks are part of a larger trend, as Naftogaz facilities have been targeted 26 times since the beginning of 2025, making it clear that the Russian military is making concerted efforts to degrade Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The scale of the problem has been significant, with Naftogaz documenting 401 attacks on its infrastructure since the full-scale invasion began, showing a relentless assault on critical energy resources in the country.

Once the air raid ceases, repair teams, aided by units from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, will be deployed to assess and rectify the damages inflicted by these attacks. The ongoing drone warfare not only poses immediate threats to energy production but also raises national security concerns regarding the resilience of Ukraine's energy infrastructure and the potential for long-term economic repercussions.
