Two tourists from Rio Grande do Sul were shot at while driving near an Indigenous protest in Prado, Bahia, with no arrests made yet.

On Tuesday (24), two tourists from Rio Grande do Sul were shot at while passing by a protest site of Indigenous groups in the southern Bahia city of Prado. According to Evy Paternostro, the director of the Regional Directorate of Interior Police/South, the tourists were vacationing in Corumbau and had taken a trip to Barra do Cahy, a beach approximately 44 km away. While driving through a rural road, their vehicle was struck by gunfire. Local authorities indicate that the shooting may have been carried out by Indigenous protesters who may have perceived the dark windows of the car as suspicious.

The incident underscores ongoing tensions in the region surrounding land conflicts and Indigenous occupations. The affected tourists, whose names have not been disclosed, were traveling with a man who fortunately was unharmed during the shooting.
