Suspected of Terrorism While Employed by Sollentuna Municipality at the Time of the Crimes

A young man from Stockholm is suspected of participating in a terrorist organization linked to violent far-right extremism while he was employed at Sollentuna Municipality.

A man in his twenties from the Stockholm area is being investigated for involvement with a terrorist organization, specifically related to violent far-right extremism. The alleged crimes occurred in Sigtuna Municipality and other areas within Stockholm County, between November 6 of last year and his arrest last week. The Swedish Security Service is handling the investigation, which raises concerns about the nature of the crimes and the potential for signals to have been missed regarding the man's activities while employed.

From late September to mid-November 2025, the suspect worked with employment support at Sollentuna Municipality in a service capacity. The employment has raised questions about how such an individual could secure a job while being under investigation for serious allegations. Kristina Eineborg has expressed a need to understand more about the type of criminal activity involved and whether the municipality could have detected any warning signs during his employment.

The man has denied the allegations against him and is opposing the detention order related to the case, with his defense lawyer declining to make a statement. This development not only sheds light on individual cases of terrorism in Sweden but also raises broader questions about employment screening processes within the public sector, especially in positions that may interact with sensitive community matters.
