Kadassi Nembhard, a 33-year-old mother, found herself in a perilous situation during her holiday in Whitby when she attempted to rescue her three-year-old daughter from drowning in deep mud at the water's edge. After successfully saving her daughter, Kadassi became stuck herself, sinking waist-deep into the mud. Fortunately, her quick reaction to remain still and call for help helped rescue teams act swiftly.

The Whitby Coastguard praised Nembhard for her composure during the ordeal, as staying still significantly increased her chances of survival. Coastguard officers were able to reach her and assist in extracting her from the mud.
