Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, announced during a press conference in Kyiv that the European Union is committed to granting a 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine, notwithstanding the ongoing challenges posed by Hungary. This statement comes as a reaffirmation of the EU's support for Ukraine on the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion, highlighting the EU's solidarity with Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia.

In addition to the loan, von der Leyen mentioned that the 27 member states of the EU are working on an energy aid plan for Ukraine, which is projected to amount to 920 million euros for the period from 2026 to 2027. This effort underscores the EU's focus on not only financial support but also long-term energy security for Ukraine, which is crucial as the country faces the realities of war and its impacts on energy supply and infrastructure.
