Marina Matias, a 22-year-old woman, was one of six individuals who lost their lives in a tragic boat accident between Rifaina (SP) and Sacramento (MG) in Brazil. She made the trip to celebrate the birthday of her friend Viviane Aredes, who also perished in the accident. Family members of Viviane shared that Marina left Franca (SP) with two of her friend's children, one of whom survived while the other, four-year-old Bento Aredes, sadly did not make it.

Marina's decision to join the trip appears to have been sudden, as her coworker Tiago Araújo noted that it was not originally planned for her to go due to the lack of a day off from work. Despite her responsibilities, she managed to secure last-minute arrangements. The manager of the paint store where she had worked for two years, Bruno Teixeira, confirmed that she had worked that morning before the accident. He mentioned that she refueled her car with money sent by her friend before embarking on the ill-fated journey.

This horrific incident highlights the risks associated with recreational boating, particularly in Brazil, where boating accidents remain a significant concern. The community is now left to mourn not only the loss of Marina and Viviane but also the impact on their families and friends.
