Mallikarjun Kharge calls PM Modi coward, also targets Shivraj

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticizes PM Modi, labeling him a coward and claiming he prioritizes foreign pressure over farmers' interests.

At the Kisan Maha Chowpal event in Bhopal, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge vehemently criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing him as a 'cowardly Prime Minister' who fails to face the opposition. Kharge accused Modi of sacrificing the interests of farmers under foreign pressure, suggesting that the government's policies have been detrimental to agricultural welfare in India. He stressed that Modi is not advocating for farmers but rather following directives from foreign leaders, particularly in relation to trade agreements with the US.

In addition to his comments on Modi, Kharge took jibes at Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Union Agriculture Minister, implying that his stance on farmers has changed after moving to Delhi. Kharge remarked that while Chouhan used to present himself as a farmer-friendly leader during his tenure as Chief Minister, he has since become silent after his elevation to the national stage. This shift highlights a broader theme of politicians changing their narratives and priorities once they attain more significant power away from their home states.

Furthermore, Kharge criticized the recently negotiated trade agreements with the US, warning that they would enable the sale of inferior goods at lower prices in India, threatening the livelihoods of farmers by undermining the prices and quality of agricultural products. He chillingly claimed that Modi's decision to stop purchasing cheaper oil from Russia and Iran was made under pressure from former US President Donald Trump, implying that the Prime Minister is more aligned with foreign interests than with Indian farmers, emphasizing the disconnection between government policy and the agricultural community's needs.
