Presidency: Part of the Fence Surrounding the President's Residence is Being Torn Down After Additional Measurements
Following additional measurements, part of the fence surrounding the President's residence is being reconstructed due to encroachments on state land.
The Lithuanian presidency announced that some sections of the fence around President Gitanas Nausėda's residence are being torn down after surveyors established that parts of the fence encroach on state land, while others have reduced the property's area. Ridas Jasiulionis, an advisor to the president, clarified that the reconstruction aims to rectify mistakes made by builders over a decade ago. This decision came after it was noted that the State Territorial Planning and Construction Inspectorate plans to visit the president's premises to possibly extend the property into state land.
The reconstruction of the fence is not just a matter of restoring property lines but will also enhance the security measures surrounding the President's residence. The State Protection Service (VAT) will utilize this opportunity to implement additional security enhancements, aimed at ensuring the safety of the head of state. Jasiulionis pointed out that this renovation presents a chance to fortify the president's protective measures alongside rectifying the boundaries of the property.
This development highlights ongoing issues related to property management and state land regulations in Lithuania. By addressing the mistakes of previous building practices, the government also signals its commitment to upholding legal standards in land use and property demarcation. As the inspectorate's findings lead to action, it reinforces the importance of thorough assessments in maintaining the integrity of official residences.
