Eemil found himself in a freezing predicament at the Himos ski resort – "It got a bit cold"

A malfunctioning chairlift at Himos ski resort stranded skiers for about 30 minutes, prompting one skier to express his discomfort due to the cold.

At the Himos ski resort in Finland, a chairlift malfunction left skiers stranded for approximately half an hour, creating a tense situation for those on board. Eemil Suomilammi, a skier from Ylöjärvi, was one of the individuals affected and reported that they had to remain calm while waiting for the lift to start moving in reverse. Despite the cold temperatures of around -6 degrees Celsius, which had recently improved from harsher conditions, he noted the discomfort experienced during their wait.

Elsi Ojala, the CEO of Himos-Yhtiöt, confirmed the incident, explaining that they received reports of the stuck chairlift around 1:30 PM. By 2 PM, all skiers had been safely evacuated from the lift as it was moved backward to the station. The lift has since been shut down for repairs, and the company is investigating the technical issue that caused the malfunction.

This incident highlights the challenges ski resorts may face regarding mechanical failures, particularly in winter conditions. While the immediate technical problem has been addressed, it raises concerns about safety protocols and the appropriate measures ski resorts should take to ensure the safety and comfort of their visitors during such incidents.
