Suspected: Young men committed online commerce crimes - threatened sellers with violence
Two young men are suspected of committing serious robberies through online sales platforms, using threats of violence against the sellers.
The Hämeen police have reported that two men, aged 20 and 21, are under suspicion for committing serious robberies associated with online transactions. They are believed to have obtained valuable items worth thousands of euros by threatening the sellers with violence during these encounters. The robberies took place in Orimattila on February 5 and in Ypäjä on February 11 of this year.
Following their arrest last week by the Päijät-Hämeen District Court, the police investigation has revealed indications that the suspects may be linked to other similar crimes. Instances of such violent thefts have also been reported in Sysmä on January 30 and in Helsinki on February 5. The police have urged individuals to report any incidents of being threatened while selling valuable items online, emphasizing the necessity of contacting emergency services immediately if such situations arise.
This case highlights the growing concerns surrounding safety in online transactions, where criminals may exploit platforms to engage in violent thefts. The police's proactive approach in announcing the investigation and urging victims to report incidents demonstrates their commitment to tackling this type of crime and ensuring the safety of individuals engaging in online commerce.
