A 30-year-old driver was rescued after being swept away by floodwaters during a storm in Cuiabá, Brazil.

In Cuiabá, Brazil, a 30-year-old driver was rescued by the fire department after being dragged by floodwaters caused by heavy rains on Sunday, October 22. The storm resulted in more than 100 millimeters of rainfall, leading to severe flooding in various areas, including Jardim Florianópolis where the incident occurred. A video captured by rescuers shows the dramatic footage of the search in a completely flooded forest area.

According to the firefighters, the driver attempted to cross a flooded area in his vehicle, but was quickly swept away by the strong current. His vehicle was carried approximately 300 meters before it got caught in vegetation, during which the water began to flood the car. The driver managed to escape the vehicle and call for help on his mobile phone while clinging to a tree for support, avoiding being swept away a second time.

Emergency responders located the driver in a dense forested area, and fortunately, he did not sustain any serious injuries. This incident underscores the dangers posed by heavy rainfall and the importance of heeding weather warnings, especially when it comes to navigating flooded roadways, which can change rapidly during severe weather events.
