European Commission: Approved Greek state aid of 400 million euros for business investments in clean technologies

The European Commission has approved a Greek state aid scheme of 400 million euros aimed at strategic investments in clean technologies.

The European Commission has greenlit a state aid scheme in Greece worth 400 million euros, designed to facilitate strategic investments in clean technologies. This initiative aims to bolster production capabilities in zero-emission technologies, aligning with the objectives outlined in the Clean Industry Agreement. Funding will be provided through direct grants and tax benefits, available to businesses across Greece up until December 31, 2030.

In its announcement, the Commission highlighted that the new scheme is consistent with the state aid framework of the Clean Industry Agreement (CISAF), which was approved in June 2025. The Commission concluded that these aids are necessary and proportionate to expedite the transition towards a zero-emission economy. This support under CISAF enables member states to back strategic investments in clean technologies, critical raw material production, and the decarbonization of industrial processes.

The approval of this state aid marks a significant step toward Greece's commitment to sustainability and the enhancement of its competitive edge in the green technology sector. It reflects the EU's broader strategies to stimulate investments that align with environmental goals and contribute to long-term economic resilience within the framework of sustainability.
