Senator Fabiano Contarato, the president of the Organized Crime Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPI), announced that former Rio de Janeiro state deputy Thiego Raimundo dos Santos Silva, known as TH Joias, will be questioned on Wednesday, the 25th. TH Joias was arrested in September of the previous year on allegations of connections with the Comando Vermelho criminal organization, which is notorious in Brazil for its involvement in drug trafficking and organized crime. After his arrest, he was transferred to the Federal Penitentiary in Brasília where he is currently detained. The questioning is seen as critical for understanding how organized crime infiltrates legitimate sectors of the economy.
