A construction company in Kuopio has ceased all operations and is focusing solely on fighting against Senate Properties

A Kuopio-based construction firm has stopped all operations due to legal battles with Senate Properties over contract disputes.

Ykkös Infra, a construction company based in Kuopio, has halted all its business activities as it engages in a legal dispute with Senate Properties regarding contract agreements related to the Kuopio prison and the Riihimäki barracks area. The CEO, Juuso Siltanen, indicated that the ongoing legal battles have negatively impacted the company's operations. He noted that the future of Ykkös Infra hinges on the outcomes of these two contractual disputes, which have essentially paralyzed the firm, leading to significant financial distress with over €430,000 in court fees.

The conflicts arose after Senate Properties decided to terminate two contracts with Ykkös Infra, citing delays in project timelines. These contracts, originally signed in 2018, were crucial for Ykkös Infra, as they were the company's primary sources of business. The termination of these agreements has forced the company to lay off all its employees, marking a severe impact on the local economy and underscoring the importance of these projects not only to Ykkös Infra but also to the wider community.

This situation highlights the vulnerability of smaller construction firms reliant on a limited scope of projects and the repercussions that legal adversities can have on their sustainability. As Ykkös Infra focuses solely on its fight against the contract terminations, the coming months will be critical in determining whether the company can recover from this setback or if it will lead to its complete dissolution in a challenging economic environment.
