Criminals break into the Samu base in MG and steal equipment
Criminals broke into a Samu base in Unaí, Brazil, stealing several pieces of equipment including an air conditioner and a television.
The Samu decentralized base in Unaí, located in the northwest of Minas Gerais, Brazil, was targeted by criminals on Monday, October 23. A rescue worker discovered that the unit's gate had been broken into upon arriving to start their shift. Upon investigation, it was determined that several items had been stolen, including an air conditioning unit, a television, a data projector, a sound box, and a microphone. This incident has raised concerns about the security of emergency services facilities in the area.
The local police were alerted and began their inquiries. Eyewitnesses reported seeing two men, aged 19 and 25, around the scene of the crime. The 25-year-old was found at his residence but denied any involvement in the burglary. The 19-year-old suspect, however, was not at home when police searched but they did find a package of cocaine at his location. This discovery adds a layer of complexity to the investigation and suggests potential drug-related activities may be involved.
As the police continued their search for the suspects, they received tips about a stolen television being hidden at the home of a 50-year-old man. The police located the stolen television but did not seize it right away due to a lack of confirmation regarding its ownership. This case underscores the ongoing issues of crime in the region and raises critical questions regarding the protection of public service facilities, particularly those involved in emergency response.
