Suspect's Notebook 'Seizure is Illegal' - Saga Prefectural Bar Association Issues Statement

The Saga Prefectural Bar Association has issued a statement calling for the police to cease the illegal seizure of suspects' notebooks, which they claim is becoming a widespread practice in the area.

The Saga Prefectural Bar Association, led by President Soichiro Deguchi, released a statement on the 24th, demanding that Saga Prefectural Police change their practices regarding the illegal and improper collection of suspects' notebooks. These notebooks serve as a record for detained individuals to document conversations with their attorneys and interrogation proceedings. According to the statement, the Bar Association became aware of an incident in January where a detained individual at the Tosu Police Station was denied the request to keep his notebook in his room or in a visible place, leading to concerns about violations of legal rights.
