Natalie Ringler new theater director for Västmanlands Teater
Natalie Ringler has been appointed as the new director of Västmanlands Teater, succeeding Niklas Hjulström who is retiring.
Natalie Ringler has been appointed as the new director of Västmanlands Teater, set to take over in February 2027. She will succeed Niklas Hjulström, who is leaving the position at the age of 65. Ringler's background includes extensive training in Kraków and at the Dramatic Institute in Stockholm, along with a successful career spanning 25 years as a director. She is well-known for her work on various significant stages across Sweden and gained prominence with her production of 'Vår klass' at Teater Galeasen in 2013. Additionally, she has experience in directing opera, radio theater, and has participated in teaching and leading performing arts projects. The recruitment process for this position began in the spring of 2025 and attracted a total of 57 applicants. The board, aided by reference groups as well as staff and union representatives, deemed Ringler an experienced and responsive leader with a clear artistic direction. According to board chairman Jesper Brandberg (L), the theater is fortunate to have such leadership. Ringler expressed excitement about the opportunity to develop the theater's offerings and engage with the local audience in the region.
