Care company stopped - forged documents
The care company Samsteget has been halted from managing protected accommodations after being suspected of forging signatures in connection with a procurement process.
Swedish care company Samsteget has been stopped by the Health and Social Care Inspectorate (Ivo) from operating protected accommodations due to allegations of forgery. The company is suspected of having forged signatures during a procurement process, a serious accusation that has led Ivo to deem the company unsuitable for conducting such operations. Frida Tamker, a unit manager at Ivo, emphasized that the company cannot be considered a serious player in the sector due to these actions, which undermine the trust necessary for managing sensitive care environments.
The ongoing investigation uncovered clear evidence of document forgery, which Samsteget has acknowledged. Although a police investigation into the matter was recently closed, Ivo's decision effectively prohibits the company from continuing its operations in this sensitive field. Samsteget has been active in around thirty municipalities in recent years, indicating a significant presence in the Swedish care landscape, which raises further concerns regarding the implications of their previous operations and the quality of care provided.
Following the suspension, the company has lodged an appeal against Ivo's decision, expressing its intention to contest the ruling. Currently, other parts of Samsteget's operations are not affected by Ivo’s decision, but this situation highlights the strict regulations governing care services in Sweden and the importance of maintaining integrity within the industry, especially in sectors involving vulnerable populations.
