Out-of-control truck hits bus stop on BR-040 in Greater BH

A driver was injured after an out-of-control truck crashed into a bus stop on BR-040 in Contagem, Brazil.

An accident occurred on Monday, September 23, when a truck driven by an individual veered off the road and collided with a bus stop located along BR-040 in the Contagem area of Greater Belo Horizonte. Despite the seriousness of the crash, at the time of the incident, no passengers were at the bus stop. However, the driver suffered severe injuries, including a cranial fracture, as the concrete slab of the bus stop structure was propelled into the cabin during the collision.

Emergency services, including three teams from the Military Fire Brigade of Minas Gerais, were dispatched to the scene to assist the injured driver, who was trapped in the wreckage and required extrication. He was eventually rescued and conscious, and was taken to the Municipal Hospital in Contagem. The police were also present to manage the situation. The truck was subsequently removed from the area by tow trucks.

The incident has raised concerns about road safety in the region, prompting discussions about the adequacy of infrastructure to prevent such occurrences.
