On April 24, 2023, Jeong Yong-ok, an 89-year-old grandmother, graduated from Cheongju Haebom School after completing a three-year program, fulfilling her dream of becoming a student. Having been born during the Japanese colonial period and unable to attend school due to economic hardships, she entered the school at the age of 86, delighted to experience education for the first time in her life. Cheongju Haebom School, which opened in 2023, aims to provide education to seniors who have missed out on learning opportunities, embodying the spirit of 'let's try anything.'

The school's inaugural graduating class is notably older than typical elementary school graduates, with ages ranging from 61 to 89, and all are officially recognized as elementary school graduates by the Chungbuk Education Office. During the graduation ceremony, emotional moments included recitations of poetry by students, highlighting the joy and fulfillment they find in learning. The graduates received various awards, with several continuing their education at broadcasting and communication middle school, demonstrating a strong commitment to lifelong learning.

In addition to academia, the program included various enriching activities, emphasizing practical learning experiences. The classes are organized into three levels, each requiring a minimum of 240 hours of instruction, covering fundamental subjects and special courses in safety, nutrition, computer skills, and outdoor learning, thereby providing these senior students with comprehensive educational opportunities as they continue their journey of education later in life.
