Iran Seeks to Avert the Danger of War, and Trump Gives His Envoys More Time for Negotiations
Iranian officials emphasize their desire to avoid war and express readiness for diplomatic negotiations, alongside readiness to defend the country against perceived threats.
Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mahajerani stated that the Iranian administration is actively working to avert the threat of war and to counter initiatives aimed at undermining and fragmenting the nation. This comes ahead of anticipated negotiations in Geneva. The Iranian government expresses a preference for diplomacy over military conflict while asserting that all defensive tools will be utilized to prevent any miscalculation against Iran. Further, Mahajerani underscored military readiness as a key priority for Tehran, claiming that the country is well-prepared.
Mahajerani also addressed ongoing protests in Iranian universities, which have now entered their fourth day, asserting that while students have the right to protest, they must respect certain boundaries and engage in comprehensive dialogue. The Iranian government seems intent on portraying a strong image to counter international narratives depicting Iran as weak, attempting to combat what they describe as psychological warfare from their adversaries. Additionally, Kazem Gharib Abadi, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, commented on the potential for adversaries to initiate conflict against Iran while asserting that they would not dictate its outcome. Such statements highlight Iran's strategic posturing as it navigates complex diplomatic and military challenges amid international scrutiny and domestic unrest.
