Search for missing police diver continues in Dalešice reservoir

Rescue operations are ongoing to locate a missing police diver in the Dalešice reservoir involving multiple emergency services.

Rescue operations at the Dalešice reservoir are being extended as authorities continue their search for a missing police diver. The police have stated that they are working in cooperation with other components of the Integrated Rescue System, including firefighters and emergency medical services. The diver went missing during a training exercise, prompting a large-scale operation that has involved deploying dozens of personnel and advanced resources such as helicopters equipped with thermal imaging.

The search area is particularly challenging due to the reservoir's depth, reaching approximately forty meters, making the efforts more complicated, especially given the temperature of the water. The Dalešice reservoir, constructed in the late 1970s, is the deepest reservoir in the Czech Republic, with sections measuring up to eighty meters deep. Local authorities have mobilized multiple diving teams and aerial support from the police to enhance the search efforts amidst these difficulties.

Police spokesperson Ondřej Moravčík confirmed the ongoing situation, noting that the pressure of finding the diver is heightened by the complexity of the environment. Despite the search efforts, one of their colleagues has not yet resurfaced as of the latest updates. This incident has led to an outpouring of support from various rescue groups across the country, indicating the seriousness of the situation.
