Six Poles to sing at the cost-saving Metropolitan

The Metropolitan Opera in New York is reducing the number of titles for the upcoming season to 17, focusing on popular operas, which will feature Polish artists prominently.

The Metropolitan Opera is facing financial difficulties, prompting a reduction in the number of opera titles it will present in the upcoming season. This season will include only 17 titles, with five of them being premieres. The scheduled performances will mainly feature classic and popular operas, which are expected to be staged more frequently with larger casts, allowing for a longer run of popular works like "La Bohème," which will be showcased 24 times, along with an even greater number of performances for "Tosca." Altogether, these three operas, alongside the timeless "Aida," will account for 71 evenings out of the 187 planned in the new season.
