Staggering figures of losses in the Ukraine war revealed
According to Oryx, both sides in the ongoing Ukraine conflict have lost a total of 35,579 military equipment pieces over four years.
The Oryx site, which tracks military equipment losses in the Ukraine war, has revealed that both Ukraine and Russia have experienced significant losses in military hardware, amounting to a total of 35,579 units during the four-year-long conflict. Of these, Russia has suffered the greater loss with 24,136 pieces of military equipment, including nearly 14,000 tanks and armored vehicles. Ukraine, on the other hand, has lost 11,443 units, including around 5,600 armored vehicles.
Notably, the numbers presented by Oryx are considered to be conservative estimates, as there are still many unobserved and unidentified equipment losses that have not been accounted for. Czech military historian Jakub Janovski pointed out on social media that the actual losses could be far greater than what has been documented by Oryx. This highlights the challenges in accurately assessing wartime equipment losses, especially in a conflict that is ongoing and strategically complex.
The implications of these losses are significant for both nations involved. For Russia, the high number of tank and armored vehicle losses may affect its military capabilities and strategy moving forward, while for Ukraine, the ongoing depletion of military assets raises concerns regarding defense and operational effectiveness. The continued monitoring of such losses is crucial for understanding the evolving dynamics of military power in the region, and it reflects the high stakes involved in the prolonged conflict between the two nations.
