Violence and Chaos in Mexico Following the Death of Cartel Leader to be Suppressed by the Army
Mexico has deployed at least 10,000 soldiers to quell unrest and armed clashes following the death of cartel leader Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, known as El Mencho.
The Mexican government has mobilized at least 10,000 soldiers to address the significant unrest and violence that erupted after the death of the notorious cartel leader, Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, also known as El Mencho. Oseguera Cervantes led the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), which is recognized as one of the fastest-growing and most dangerous criminal organizations in Mexico, heavily involved in the trafficking of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine into the United States as well as violent confrontations with government officials. He was reportedly injured during a military operation and succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the capital.
