Five people injured in Russian drone strikes in Zaporizhzhia
Five individuals, including a child, have been injured in recent Russian drone strikes in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, as the country marks the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion.
On Tuesday, Ukraine commemorates the fourth anniversary of Russia's large-scale invasion, with no end in sight to the bloodiest conflict in Europe since World War II. On the evening of Monday, various locations in the Zaporizhzhia region were attacked by Russian forces, according to the Ukrainian State Emergency Service (DSNS). The strikes resulted in injuries to five people, including a child, highlighting the ongoing dangers faced by civilians in the area.
One drone struck a factory building adjacent to a nine-story residential block, causing a fire that spread across more than 200 square meters. The DSNS reported damage to nearby homes, illustrating the widespread destruction caused by the attack. Another strike targeted open territory near residential neighborhoods, damaging five buildings and several cars parked in the vicinity, adding to the already significant toll of infrastructure impacts in the region.
Emergency services mobilized additional teams and equipment to extinguish fires and assess structural damage, demonstrating the urgent response to these types of assaults. "All services are working at the scene," stated the DSNS, emphasizing the coordinated effort to manage the crisis. Zaporizhzhia, a major city located close to the southern frontlines of the conflict, has become accustomed to such incidents as hostilities continue almost daily in the region, raising concerns for the safety of its residents and the stability of the area amid ongoing hostilities.
