Ride-hailing driver is robbed, tied up, and threatened by criminals in Imperatriz
A ride-hailing driver in Imperatriz, Brazil, was assaulted, tied up, and threatened by criminals who stole his vehicle after requesting a ride.
On the night of Sunday, October 22, a ride-hailing driver was assaulted in the Vilinha neighborhood of Imperatriz, located 626 km from São Luís. According to investigations, the suspects requested a ride, and upon arrival at their destination, they announced the robbery. The victim was taken to a forested area where he had his hands tied and was threatened by one of the criminals as the others drove away with his vehicle.
After some time, the driver was released and managed to seek help from a police officer. Upon returning to the location where he had been held captive, he found his vehicle abandoned. The police are currently investigating the incident and looking into whether the vehicle may have been used in other crimes, indicating a more extensive criminal operation in the area.
In addition to this incident, previously on the same night, the city of Imperatriz recorded two attempted homicides — one in the Boca da Mata neighborhood and another in Parque São José. In one of these cases, the suspects were in a car, which has prompted police to investigate potential connections between the robbery and the other violent crimes that occurred, highlighting a concerning wave of crime in the community.
