New solar park in Mendoza: the largest renewable energy generator in Argentina invested US$160 million
A new solar park inaugurated in Mendoza, represents a significant investment by Genneia, enhancing the province's renewable energy capacity.
On Monday, a new solar park was inaugurated in Mendoza, known as the Solar Anchoris project, with an investment of US$160 million by Genneia, Argentina's leading renewable energy generator. Located in Luján de Cuyo, approximately 52 kilometers from Mendoza's provincial capital, this facility signifies a crucial step in Genneia's expansion strategy, adding 180 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity intended for large industrial users through the Renewable Energy Market (MATER).
The solar park is equipped with 360,000 state-of-the-art bifacial solar modules, a technology designed to capture both direct sunlight and reflection from the ground, thereby enhancing efficiency. It is projected to generate approximately 497,000 megawatt-hours per year, enough to supply 125,000 homes and to curb the emission of over 220,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually. This achievement not only underscores the advancements in renewable energy within Argentina but also aligns with global sustainability goals by promoting cleaner energy sources.
Socially, during its construction phase, the park is expected to create significant employment opportunities, contributing positively to the local economy. As industries increasingly shift towards sustainable energy solutions, this development positions Mendoza as a key player in Argentina's renewable energy landscape, reflecting a broader commitment to reducing carbon footprints and supporting economic growth through green energy initiatives.
