Kalev/Cramo must find a new center for the decisive phase of the season

Kalev/Cramo basketball team has announced the departure of center Tommy Rutherford, who has activated his buyout clause and will continue his season with another club.

The Kalev/Cramo basketball team from Estonia has officially announced the departure of center Tommy Rutherford, who has opted to utilize a buyout clause in his contract. The club expressed their gratitude for Rutherford's hard work and contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors. As Rutherford moves on to another team, Kalev/Cramo is actively searching for a replacement to bolster their lineup for the crucial phase of the season.

Rutherford, who recently celebrated his 29th birthday, had a tumultuous time with the Kalev team. He began the season promisingly but suffered a significant knee injury at the start of October. Despite this setback, he made an impressive return to the court about a month and a half ahead of schedule, before Christmas. Although he performed reasonably well statistically, he has recently found himself overshadowed by teammate Anrijs Miška.

As the season approaches its critical moments, Kalev/Cramo is in urgent need of additional strength, especially since both Miška and the latest inclusion, Stephon Jelks, are more suited to play the power forward position rather than as a center. The club’s proactive approach to finding a new player highlights their determination to enhance their chances of success as the season progresses.
