Swedish ambulance provider to operate in North Jutland
The North Jutland Regional Council has chosen Swedish company Premedic as the new supplier for ambulance services and patient transport in several areas, covering 40% of the region's total ambulance services.
The North Jutland Regional Council has recently appointed the Swedish ambulance provider Premedic to manage ambulance services and patient transport in Himmerland, Han Herred, Thy, and on Mors. This change is significant as it pertains to 40% of the entire ambulance service in North Jutland, underscoring the importance of ensuring quality and efficiency in emergency care. The council emphasizes that Premedic presented the best combination of cost-effectiveness and quality for the service, confirmed by regional council chairman Mads Duedahl.
The newly awarded contract will commence on April 1, 2027, and will last for five years, during which Premedic is expected to enhance the delivery of emergency medical services in the region. This development arises as the existing supplier, PreMed, has decided to terminate its contract, creating a transitional phase where new operational protocols and responsibilities will be established by Premedic. The decision is positioned as a strategic move to improve patient outcomes and service reliability in the North Jutland area.
This step by the North Jutland Regional Council reflects broader trends in the healthcare sector where public contracts are becoming more competitive and open to international bidders. By integrating a Swedish ambulance service, which is noted for high standards in medical care, the council aims to set a precedent for future collaborations across borders, ensuring that residents receive the highest level of emergency care possible.
