Highest retirement pension, solid adjustment. How much will the record pensioner receive?

A record pensioner in Poland, who worked for over 62 years without taking any sick leave, is set to receive a substantial increase in their pension starting in March 2026, amounting to nearly 54,000 PLN per month after an adjustment of 5.3%.

In Poland, the highest retirement pension is currently being drawn by an individual who has worked for more than 62 years and has never been on sick leave. This remarkable person transitioned to receiving a pension from ZUS at the age of 86 and has accumulated a robust pension capital of over 2.4 million PLN. This unprecedented situation highlights both the challenges and the potential rewards of a long working life without periods of absence due to illness.

Starting from March 1, 2026, all pensions and benefits will increase by 5.3%. This announcement has significant implications for many retirees, as nearly 3,000 PLN raises are projected for others as well. The record pensioner stands to benefit the most from this adjustment, with their pension expected to rise by 2,700 PLN, resulting in a monthly total exceeding 54,000 PLN. Additionally, in April, the individual will receive an extra 2,000 PLN as part of the 13th pension payment, further emphasizing the financial benefits of their lifetime contributions.

The director of the pension and disability benefit department at ZUS, Bartosz Gaca, also mentioned that the adjustment will affect the minimum pension, which will see an increase as well. This broader adjustment reflects the government's ongoing efforts to support retirees with more stable and increased financial aid, aiming to improve the welfare of older citizens, particularly during challenging economic times.
